I am a Contributing Creative Director for Modern Weekly, which has been called the “NYTimes of China” and has a reputation for championing avant-garde and challenging ideas. This first issue I did for them was based on the issue-wide editorial theme of “objects in a collection”. With this theme in mind, for the typography I made each letter into a different font, but one that melds cohesively with other letters to form a unique headline, the same way different objects would merge together into a unified collection.
The rest of the layouts shown here are from their Bridal issue, Beauty issue, and Fashion issue. For each one, I created a new visual identity to go along with the respective theme.
