Ever since it was founded in 1999, NYLON has been at the vanguard of cool design and photography. First in 2006 under Art Directors Andrea Fella & Michele Outland, and then again in 2009, when I was the Co-Art Director with Michael Pangilinan, we were all excited at the prospect of guiding the look of this storied publication. We took the already adventurous DNA of NYLON and gave it a makeover, focusing on creative typography and energetic photography that helped introduce the magazine to a new generation of readers.

For stories such as “Fast Future Generation”, I had to juggle back-to-back photoshoots of 40 new and rising stars spread among London, New York, and LA, shooting each in a unique way while still keeping them cohesive as one story. This shoot included young stars who would go on to become major players - such as Ezra Miller (The Flash in Batman vs. Superman) and Ellie Kendrick from Game of Thrones.
